Marshall Krebs, an eighth grade social studies teacher at Watford City Middle School, has been named the McKenzie County Public School District #1 Teacher of the Year.
The Teacher of the Year award recognizes the outstanding dedication to students, excellence in teaching, and a commitment to the MCPSD1 school community.
The District Teacher of the Year award begins with a community-wide nomination process that invites students, parents, community members, and colleagues to recognize educators who make a positive impact. This year, 86 staff members received nominations, with a total of 347 nominations submitted across the district.
Following the nomination process, one teacher from each of the four school buildings was selected as a Building Teacher of the Year. Those four educators then advanced as finalists for the District Teacher of the Year honor, with the recipient selected by a district committee.
"Marshall exemplifies the passion, dedication, and commitment to student success that define exceptional educators," said Superintendent Dr. Steve Holen. "Being selected from an outstanding group of building-level honorees is a tremendous achievement. We are proud of the positive impact he makes each day in the classroom and throughout our district."
Krebs has served MCPSD1 for 12 years and is widely recognized for his commitment to student learning and engagement. As an eighth-grade social studies teacher, he creates dynamic learning experiences that encourage students to think critically, explore diverse perspectives, and develop a deeper understanding of history and civics.
"I am incredibly honored to receive this recognition," said Krebs. "There are so many talented and dedicated educators throughout our district, and I am grateful to work alongside them every day. This award reflects the support of my colleagues, students, families, and administrators who make our schools such special places to learn and grow."
District officials thanked everyone who participated in the nomination process and highlighted the strong community support demonstrated through the hundreds of nominations submitted this year.
"The overwhelming response to this year's program speaks volumes about the exceptional educators serving our students," said Dr. Calina Krogen, Director of Teaching and Learning. "We appreciate everyone who took the time to recognize the important work happening in our classrooms every day."
