Welcome to the McKenzie County Public School District #1 website.

The McKenzie County Public School District #1 is located in Watford City, ND and is comprised of an elementary school with grades K-6 and a high school with grades 7-12 and approximately 525 students total in grades K-12.

The district consists of 1,672 square miles of beautiful Northwest North Dakota terrain.  The district offers an extensive transportation system that services our patrons through twenty rural bus routes and five in-city routes.  The district is proud of its modern facilities and classrooms equipped with state of the art technology.  The district offers quality teachers and small class sizes in providing a high quality education to all students.  The district is NCA accredited; the elementary school was named a blue-ribbon school in 2005.  The McKenzie County Public School District #1 has a proud tradition of excellence in the classroom, in addition to extracurricular activities.  The district believes in students having the opportunity to display their talents, whether it be academically, athletically or in the fine arts area.  The district is proud of its advanced nature amidst the progressive Watford City community and McKenzie County in general.

Watford City is the county seat of McKenzie County.  The community offers many recreational opportunities for children and families.  Some of these opportunities include:  a modern water park with super slides, a large new children's park and recreation area, a new baseball field and sand volleyball court, a new movie theater, a new golf course clubhouse, and a fishing pond to name a few.  Watford City is located just 15 miles north of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park North Unit and provides some of the best hunting and fishing opportunities anywhere.  McKenzie County offers a family friendly, safe environment for children and families of all ages.
