The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Program Service is a federally funded state-administrative program. The program will provide FREE breakfast and lunch to all children 0 to 18, no matter their income level. It is the goal of the MCPSD1 to ensure all students have access to safe, healthy meals during the summer months. Funding provided in part by the United States Department of Agriculture.
Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer
Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT), also known as SUN Bucks, is a program that provides families approximately $120 per eligible child each summer to help with food costs during the summer months.
A child is eligible if they qualify to receive free or reduced-price meals through their school or is enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or in some states, Medicaid. For more information on eligibility, see FRAC's Guide to Summer EBT Eligibility.
Most eligible children will receive benefits automatically, but some may need to apply. To see if you qualify and if you need to fill out an application, visit summerebt.org and click on North Dakota!
To apply, you can check out the North Dakota agency's website and fill out the application online, or through a paper application. Each state has different issuance dates, so check when you can expect your card.
Families are encouraged to participate in both Summer EBT and Summer Meal Sites during the summer months.
After receiving benefits, families will have 122 days, or about four months, to use them up.
